My Go To Products

I know what you're thinking.
"Helene, we don't care about what products you use."
But there is one all important thing here: I am CHEAP.
Very cheap. But I want to look and feel my best.
Hey, maybe I'm born with it, maybe it's vodka.

These products are miracle workers and worth a try or two.

The Lip soother: Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Swivel Stick
Yes, it looks like a glue stick but it works. I put this bad boy on my crusty, dry lips and smack them all day.
It smells awesome and really is the only chapstick I use. You can also use it on dry spots on your body. Multi purpose? Yes please.

I don't know about you but I still get them all the time.
I thought when I turned 22 they would go away, coming up on 26 and it hasn't happened.
When will pimples stop happening? Until then, I use this.
Put this stuff on any oily area, it will erase.

The Flawless Finisher: Elf High Definition Powder
I tried the mineral veil from Bare Minerals and loved it.
But at $20 a pop for a tiny little bit of product I went on the hunt for something cheaper.
This stuff is amazing. Put it on after you are done with your make up and you look perfect.

The Hair Hider: Batiste Dry Shampoo
I guess it's a theme here that I like to hide my imperfections.
It's no secret that I don't like to wash my hair every day. So sue me.
But I love the fact that this one is "blonde" and so it matches my natural  hair color.
Spray it on and you'd never know how long it'd been since I cleaned up.

With blonde hair comes blonde lashes. They need to be seen.
If I wound up on an island I would take this mascara with me.
Iv'e been using it for about 4 years now.
I've tried them all.
This one takes my lashes up without leaving anything underneath your eyes. (Hate that)

And last but not least, Kroger Brand NyQuil.
Because why pay more for name brand relief?
Seriously though, this is my new best friend.

What are your go to products?

*These are just my faves, I was not compensated for any of this. Although I wish was.

As much as I dread showering (should I admit that?) - I definitely need to get in the world of dry shampoos.

Pimples never stop. I am going to be 35 and I still get them. Sorry to break your heart. I have learned with some oil cleansing, it helps a bit more.

I've used that Palmer's chap stick and it is very good. I love elf stuff so I will have to try that. I too use to buy Bare Minerals but so expensive. And who doesn't love dry shampoo!

I care!

I do a products I'm loving post every once in a while. I like to see what other people are using.

My current favorite dry shampoo is Suave! I freaking hate washing my hair daily. I'm that lady in the shower cap.

Ohh, what is this Batiste? I'm on the hunt for a new Dry shampoo! Is it at Target?

Ashley @ LocalPostcards said... Reply To This Comment

I'll have to try that mascara! I've tried a ton and haven't found one that I really like yet- maybe this'll be it!

I care I care! Girl....you just saved me about $20. I need to restock my makeup counter. Where can I get ELF products? And how much do they run?

Kayla Peveler said... Reply To This Comment

I need to check out that chap stick, sounds amazing!! I wish dry shampoo worked on me, my hair is greasier than Snooki's face if I don't shower daily! Dumb!

julia rose. said... Reply To This Comment

I need this Batiste in my life ASAP! Fill a girl in on where you can find it! And I still get pimples on the reg myself girlfriend! I have actually heard that most girls in their mid 20s experience a "second puberty" where we break out all of the time. It's bullshit.

Batiste dry shampoo is my favorite!! The scent I use from them smells amazing, which is nice since when I'm using it, my hair is maybe a tiny bit stinky. ha! :)

I need to check out that dry shampoo...my hair gets really oily if I don't wash it daily so I wonder if that would help revitalize it. Happy Friday!

Girl, I never had a zit in my life UNTIL I hit my late 20's. Go figure. I'ma have to try that zit killah {just reminded me of an inappropriate rap lyric} ... happy Friiiiiday!

Ive never seen the cocoa butter chapstick. I do slather their body cream all over my huge belly though.

Used dry shampoo this morning...love it! AND, definitely going to have to try the ELF powder...I'm a Mineral Veil fan, so good to know there's a cheaper version of it out there.

smk053078 said... Reply To This Comment

I just started using the ELF powder last week and it's freaking magical!!! And for my oily, grease ball hair...I use baby powder. Better than dry shampoo I have tried. And I care!! ;)

Ashlyn said... Reply To This Comment

I will definitely try that zit Zapper. I use baby powder in my hair when I skipped a wash (like today...oops).

Rachel said... Reply To This Comment

Ugh, I miss mineral veil. I got the starter box of Bare Minerals as a gift, and although the coverage was amazing, it wrecked my face before my wedding. It was terrible! So.. maybe I don't miss mineral veil, actually.. even though it made my greasy face flawless.

Ashley said... Reply To This Comment

Yes to those ELF products. I'm officially in love with all of their stuff!

Sami said... Reply To This Comment

I need to try that dry shamps! Mine now is expensive and I hate that! Love me some ELF! You are a pretty princezz!

Jaime Hungry said... Reply To This Comment

I am all about the store brand. Always. And I'm definitely going to try the ELF powder now, I love Bare Minerals but also hate paying so much for make up. And since you're pimply like me, I'm assuming it doesn't break you out?

SimplyCallMeSylvia said... Reply To This Comment

Im going to have to try that chapstick!

Hey I am not sure how to reply to the post on my blog without posting a new comment all together..still learning! But heres a reply to your post earlier in case you did not see it!!

Hey Helene I use it before I blowdry my hair when it is wet..but I use a very small amount that you it last forever! It is worth the money. A bottle can last me almost a year.

I need to try your dry shampoo; the kind I've tried before didn't do it for me. A lifesaver for the modern busy girl, that's for sure! And in a pinch, I'm a fan of using good old baby powder!

Ashley said... Reply To This Comment

Keep those good (and budget friendly!) recs coming girlfriend! I need to the the ELF powder, there products are pretty good!

Elizabeth @The Better Belle Project said... Reply To This Comment

I'm gonna have to try the elf powder, but I LOVE the Batiste Dry Shampoo! I love that it comes out blonde and covers up the greasy roots I get! Great recommendations girl!

I live for dry shampoo, LIFE SAVER! I also love that high def powder, I use it too :)

You sold me on that palmers 'glue stick' I need to try me some of that! Thanks!

Kristen @ KV Confessions said... Reply To This Comment

I'm so glad I stumbled upon this! I've been looking for a product to replace my Bare Minerals mineral veil - so thanks for that. I've had painful chapped lips lately - my Burt's Bees ain't cutting it so I'm totally trying the Palmer's. Also - I still get zits all the time and I'm almost 26 - I need to pick some of that Clean & Clear! Plus I totally use the Batiste dry shampoo! Found it at Marshall's for a steal :) Great post!

Janna Renee said... Reply To This Comment

I'm cheap too! I have Bare Minerals but it makes me break out, so I only use it for special occasions. I use Clean and Clear with Benzoyl peroxide to prevent pimples, and the only thing I splurge on is Clinique moisturizing GEL because it is the only moisturizer that doesn't make me break out!

So thanks to you, I am now an official owner of the Palmer's Swivel Stick. The lady at CVS didn't know what I was talking about at first so I almost whipped out my phone and showed her good ol' heleneinbetween.com to demonstrate what it looks like hahahah
