Things Bloggers are Tired of Hearing

As a blogger, we get to write about our lives, what we love, the things we wear, and everything in between. We get to do it with our own perspective. There are, of course, plenty of perks. But with all this good stuff there can be some pretty annoying things that we hear all the time.
If you're a non blogger and you're reading this, you might be able to apply this to other aspects of your life. If you are a blogger, can I get an Amen?

Things Bloggers Are Tired of Hearing:

 - Blog about us, we won't pay you, but it's a great opportunity for you!

- Did you get my email? (Sent as a tweet)

-Dear webmaster, We'd like to advertise on your site. We're willing to pay $3 for the entire year.

-Can you write a review about us? We *might* share it on our social media.

- I just followed you, follow back?

-You're a big blogger so you don't understand.

-You're a small blogger so you don't understand.

-Are you gonna blog about this?

-Did you use your phone to take those pictures?

- You need to renew your domain name. (That's just terrifying)

- Email: Join my link up party!

- What do you really blog about?

- #FF on Twitter. (This is not a social media shout out, the only person that cares is the one that's tagged. Wait, nevermind, no one cares.)

- Are those other bloggers your friends?

-Are you still blogging?

We need a do not ever send this/say this/ social media this to anyone ever again button.
What are you tired of hearing?

  3. So true! My inbox is flooded with link-up invites every day.

  4. Oh gosh, I get so annoyed when companies expect to get a post for absolutely free. They don't work for nothing so why should bloggers?

  5. Bloggers that add me to their email list after I've visited their page a couple of times, I'll add myself to the list if I want the email.

  6. I always feel like such a nerd when I'm talking to people in real life and I'm like "My friend in Texas (or New York or wherever)..." and then they realize I'm not referring to someone I know in real life. Whatever they'll never understand!

Also there was def a moment of panic when it came to renewing my domain. Eek!

    ReplyDelete
  7. Haha I just tweeted about the first one yesterday! I'd gotten another email asking me to. I love it. "We might even feature your blog post on our website!" *gasp* I COULD GET FAMOUS THAT WAY.

    ReplyDelete
  8. I've never understood the #FF thing. I have never followed someone because they were mentioned in one. This is a great list though.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Agreed. I don't want to join your link party! Haha

    Undeniably, me

    ReplyDelete
  10. AMEN!!

I hate getting e-mails to join link parties. Usually from a blog I probably don't even read. #FF annoys me although I have participated in the past. And unsolicited advertising? Please. I don't even so "real" advertising on my blog.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Follow back?! <----Always a no when someone writes that...Always.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I really hope some guilty parties read this and take a hint!

    ReplyDelete
  13. AMEN!!! I also hate when my real life friends (you know, the ones before blogging) don't understand how my blogger friends (who've turned real life friends) can be real friends. Does that even make sense? HAHA You're a blogger - you'll catch my drift!

  14. Hahaha, this is too funny! And yes, sorting through all the emails from companies is so fun sometimes ;) Especially when multiple people from the same company email you and you have to say the same thing five times! And while I think link-ups are a great way to get exposure, people keep coming out with new ones and I simply cannot join them all!

  15. I feel so small time now. I don't have any of these problems... :'(

One day, maybe. Looking forward to being annoyed!

  16. YES to this!! The small blogger thing really ticks me off!

  17. I think so many advertisers are getting it right with bloggers, but when they get it wrong...they are so wrong. I've had so many blogger friends show me their proposals from companies and some of them are just down right insulting.

  18. Those are terrible things to hear! And I think phone photons thrown in can be ok! It's not like I am going to carry a larger camera around when I am out with friends and doing things I am there to enjoy as a person first and blogger second!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Yes, I got your fucking email, and I'm IGNORING YOU! <-usually what I'm thinking.

    ReplyDelete
  20. yeah I NEVER get the "did you get my email?" tweets? It's just an extra way to nag someone -- you know they got (or will get) your email so settle down!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Oh sure, I'd love to blog about your Norwegian company for free. I usually email back and tell them my rate is $125/word, $100/word on weekends if they are on a tighter budget.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Hahaha, these are funny! I'm totally a perpetrator of the "I just emailed you!" Tweets. Sometimes I jut get so excite that I want the recipient to read it rigt away!! I'll try and curb that enthusiasm from now on :) LOL. But seriously, one thing I'm tired of lately is bloggers writing posts questioning if they want to keep blogging. You know those, "is it really all worth it?" Posts? They always end up deciding it's worth it, or else their blog would be gone so I'm like, well what's the point of discussing this conundrum every month if you always decide you love your blog and want to keep it?? I dunno, I feel like I read those a lot lately...oh whale!

    ReplyDelete
  23. hahaha great list! I also love when I see comments that say nothing more than "great post" followed by their blog link. Really? Like we all don't know what you're doing...

    ReplyDelete
  24. All of these! Although sometimes I'll tweet that I've emailed something if time is cutting it close or something. So I'm guilty of that one. x

    ReplyDelete
  25. amen. That "great opportunity for you" one really gets on my nerves. What's a "great opportunity" for us is getting paid for our work. Great post :)

    ReplyDelete
  26. "Are you gonna blog about this?" Annoying. Because I don't live every moment thinking about blogging. Although the answer most often times ends up being, "Yes, yes I am."

    ReplyDelete
  27. The advertiser emails are the worst! "Hi, always ashten, great blog!! Please write about this gardening product and promote us!"

Um have you READ my blog? Homegirl DONT garden.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I hate when people leave giant post length comments that have zero to do with whatever your post was about. Like cool, I'm glad you write a religious blog but this post was about baking cookies

    ReplyDelete
  29. Yes, yes YES! All of these. I especially hate the begging to be followed back. Your comment essentially tells me that you didn't read a word I wrote, you just want another number on your follower count.

    ReplyDelete
  30. So with you on the comments asking for follows or to join a link up. Just stop.

    ReplyDelete
  31. the email spams are the worst! don't clog up my email or my comments box or twitter feed telling me about your linkup. i am an adult; i'll join when i want and if you annoy me to join your damn linkup, i will never ever join it!

  32. I love the "are you seriously going to blog about this?" one. Well if I find it significant, why yes, yes I am going to blog about it!

    ReplyDelete
  33. So true! Especially the I followed you, follow me back. So annoying!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Im tired of getting emails about promoting things that I have never in my life talked about on my blog..like did you not do your research first? And the "will you follow back" questions makes my blood BOIL! lol

    ReplyDelete
  35. the comments that just leave their blog url and nothing else.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I just had to renew my domain and it was a nightmare! Surprisingly Google is pretty responsive to an email titled HELP! :)

    ReplyDelete
  37. yes. yes. yes. I love when businesses offer to write guest posts for me.

    ReplyDelete
  38. There's nothing worse than "I just followed you, follow back?" AHH. I just want to slap someone. Hard.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I have an email from a guest contributor who wants to write an article about no contract phone plans. They don't want anything from me other than giving up a blog post to them. Um, no.

    ReplyDelete
  40. The follow back one gets me. Ugh.

But, I am guilty of the #FF one though.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Wait a minute there are bloggers that actually add someone else to their email list? Aren't we supposed to do that ourselves?

    ReplyDelete
  42. Yes the follow me back is annoying and gets ignored. I don't understand the point of the #FF twitter thing. The posting for free, just no. You are getting space to talk that is worth something.

    ReplyDelete
  43. This is interesting! I don't really get annoyed by things bloggers do, because we are all learning and all have made mistakes at one point. I get more annoyed by companies wanting a lot of exposure for nothing, or really impersonal sales pitches. Other than that I find it an honor that other want to comment/ #FF, email me in general, and don't knock folks too much for it;) Great list!

  44. My favorite is "post on our site about so and so for free!!" Like wait, what? NO.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Preach. That #FF junk. I'm telling ya...

    ReplyDelete
  46. AMEN!! I've gotten 2 emails in the last week asking if I wanted to write about my kids... do they mean my dogs??? NO, they've never even looked at my blog. Rude. I love this list.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Yep... all of the above. Especially the follow me back and join my link up. Newsflash... I have my own agenda here, it's called talking about what I want to talk about.... that's why I started a blog!!! And the worst part is I'm so nice I feel horrible ignoring these poor folks! Stop making me feel bad!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Oh my goodness that first one! Seriously, I've gotten SO many emails since January for things like that and I'm so tired of it. No people! I get paid or compensated otherwise sorry but I don't have the time for you because I'd rather blog about something I really care about.

    ReplyDelete
  49. These are all so true. Don't forget the comments that not only ask you to follow them but leave links to their giveaway.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Another pet peeve: when three people in a row respond with the same exact comment ----> I need some originality folks lol

    ReplyDelete
  51. Scratching it off my list to email people to join my linkup LOL.

Are you gonna blog about this is a very popular question I get! So annoying.

    ReplyDelete
  52. haha oh dear, i'm so new that all comments are welcome at this moment!! http://thewanderlusthasgotme.blogspot.co.uk/2014/05/borough-market-and-southbank.html

  54. You should really read my post about *something totally unrelated*. How about no?
If you have a post that reflects something in mine then yes for sure i will check that out, but otherwise no, just no.

    ReplyDelete
  55. haha, the struggle is real. the emails about asking to promote xyz company for free making me sigh and laugh, especially when they are big companies that should know better! at least offer me something for my time, sheesh!

    ReplyDelete
  56. When people want you to blog about everything you do socially. Like you'll be out with a group of people and they're all "you should blog this." Maybe i just want to enjoy the moment.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I mean.....surely you would think that people would have better common sense. But no. Common sense is not so common anymore.

I also hate getting comments that just says "great post" then has their blog link. Not going to clicky. Sorry!

    ReplyDelete
  58. Ugh - yes, the bad link uppers who do the "hi from x, please come follow me back!" and the solicitations of "post my post/promote me for free!" are SO annoying!

    ReplyDelete
  59. Stop emailing me to join your link up. Tell me about it on your blog or another way. Not in my inbox. Weekly. Like "weekly link up is here." Yes, if I've linked up before, I freaking know it's time.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Oh my gosh YES! I just got not one, but two of the first one today actually. And I hateeee the did you get my email, sent via tweet!

    ReplyDelete
  61. The over-the-top "flattering" blog comments like "Flawless!" "Gorgeous!" "Amazing outfit!" with a million social media links after it.... when your post was not about the photo at all.

    ReplyDelete
  62. The Join my link-up email is the worst. Also the Liebster....?

    ReplyDelete
  63. Haha this is classic, Love this Helene! I love when companies from china send me emails I cannot understand. Or even random people say so you get free stuff to just take photos, it is WAY more than that, hard work, some people do this as a full time job. It's a second job for me, I love it but people can really get on my nerves at times.

  64. "Can you write a review about us? We *might* share it on our social media." Oh my gosh I swear I've gotten like three of those in the past month!!!!! Delete, delete, delete! I mean, give me a BREAK, people.

    ReplyDelete
  65. I get so many ed@#%Q$Tdsgs emails addressing a different blogger other than me, like how careless can you be?

    ReplyDelete
  66. I think the thing I'm most tired of hearing are the patronizing comments about having a blog from people in "real life". "I think it's so cute that you blog" is not a compliment, thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Oh my god, I have had one company send me 10 emails....to "follow up" from their first email stating they want me to write about them for free, and of course tell how awesome their product is without every trying it.

I just want to squeeeeeze um.
    bitches.

    ReplyDelete
  68. I love this post!! I agree with so many things! I hate the contact within twitter.

    ReplyDelete
  69. AMEN!

I think the thing I'm most tired of hearing is "Don't put this on your blog!" It's MY blog. I'll write whatever I damn well please.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Oh yes! Some of these look familiar! Though I am guilty of #ff on twitter! I like it and I think I did it for you last friday! LOL!!

    ReplyDelete
  71. Love this/ All so true. I think one time I sent a tweet saying 'i sent you an email' and then immediately said to myself .. that's annoying Krystal haha. Yes to everything else as well!

    ReplyDelete
  72. A-to the- MEN, girl!! Seriously, if one more person asks me why I consider myself a "lifestyle" blogger and/or why I think my "lifestyle" is worthy of a blog, I may or may not scream. Also, "what do you blog about?" from friends drives me INSANE! If you want to know, read my fucking blog.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Seriously, though. What is #FF about? I don't get it.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Ugh, cannot stand people that comments asking for a follow back. And when you don't follow, they even delete you sometimes! Whaaaaaat?!

    ReplyDelete
  75. You nailed it Helene! I hate whenever I take a picture my family and friends say something obnoxious like "smile for the blog! " or when people tell me what I shOuld blog about. Yo get your own blog and YOU can write about it! Also When people say stuff like "I just don't get why you read about people s Lives that you don't even know. " People just don't get it

    ReplyDelete
  76. LOL...you're right..and too funny. I just "love" blogging for added exposure.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Almost worse than the requests to blog about them for free are the emails that say "Blog about our promotion to be entered to win one of 10 gift cards!" I really doubt they show up to work for a 10% chance that they might get paid that day.

    ReplyDelete
  78. I almost went into a pregnancy rage the other day because I swear I got 10+ emails about blogging about Mother's Day gifts for free, without product, compensation, or anything. I just don't even respond. I kinda want to start responding, though. And being really snarky. But I don't know if it's worth it. haha

    ReplyDelete
  79. I haven't received a lot of those but for the ones I have ~ AMEN :)

    ReplyDelete
  80. i hate the follow me follow you back!!

    ReplyDelete
  81. Yep, I was nodding my head and laughing the entire time I was reading this...if I get one more email from a PR company asking me if I want to share their client's press release or photos I am going to lose it...I try to mark as spam but they just keep coming back! Blogger problems are real!! LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  82. Living in New York City I get invited to events where I have to blog about it if I go. What a huge string. No thank you. The PR releases I get too - cloth diapers? Have you even clicked on my blog?

  83. I just started blogging a couple of weeks ago and even I can agree with these! To add to your "follow for follow" deal something else that irks me is the "Comment back?" question at the end of a comment on your post.

    ReplyDelete
  84. The "Can you write a review about us? We *might* share it on our social media" is defiantly the worst - You might've been putting a lot of effort into that post and they're like "naaah - not anyway"

  86. This is all great information especially for a blogger that is just now learning about monetizing. What disappoints/frustrates me is all the sarcastic and condescending comments here. Really?!!

Seems to me you "professional" bloggers would have enough sense NOT to leave such hateful comments for potential followers to read. I'm taking note of what blogs NOT to follow! Geez!

    Who's an idiot??
